NIGHT CAP RELEASE!
Hi Folks,
Summer is flying by! Ok, this Thursday (tomorrow), August 25th at 4:30pm, we will release the 2020 Bear Creek Night Cap. This is our first commercial Port style wine and I know many of you have tasted it and wanted to be notified when we would release it. Come out tomorrow, have a tasting of Night Cap and purchase a bottle if you like.
*We will limit one bottle of port to purchase per customer per visit until we get more bottled and labeled.*
Of course, Port is the famous, venerable fortified, sweet wine originally from the Douro River Valley in northwest Portugal. We have carefully studied the tradition of this wine to create a Port style that has the character and uniqueness like the Port produced in Portugal yet has the flavor components of North Dakota and Minnesota hybrid grapes. Rich, powerful yet subtle, perfect balance with great structure and easy to drink describes our 2019 and 2020 Night Cap. The Port wine making process is a complicated one. Some wine lots were aged for 4 years and others 2 years in Hungarian and American oak barrels until just the right amount of oak is present. Many of you have helped us in the long process to create this wine. We are very excited to release it now and hope we can make more like it in the future. We hope you all enjoy it, and if so, our Port will become an important part of our wine library.
So what pairs with Port? Much does, but 5 things come to mind; chocolate, blue cheese, desserts, cigars and finally just by itself, my favorite!
We may create our own name for this iconic styled wine from the Upper Midwest in the future and call it Norte’ or Nort (Northern Port). US Government regulations do not allow us to put Port on the label so perhaps we’ll leave it as Night Cap or find a new name. Please give us your thoughts on this or any other names you like and we will see you tomorrow!
Drag out the cheese, chocolate and cigars! We will have a drawing for a free bottle of Night Cap and the winner will be informed on Friday. Come out to sign up!!!!
Lastly, again thanks for all the wonderful people who stop out to Bear Creek. There are 50% returning fans and 50% are those who have been here before. So it looks like the word is getting out on Bear Creek and with the other wineries in the state as well. Also, thanks to our knowledgeable, fabulous staff for what they do best!
Cheers, Rod
