WELCOME TO THE CREEK, WHERE NORTHERN WINE IS REIMAGINED.
Crafting wines no one has before, With innovative grape varieties designed for cold climates.
Since 2003, the Ballinger Family has been imagining a world in which grapes can grow and thrive here in Fargo, ND. With the help of grape breeding technologies and developments from the University of Minnesota and NDSU, coupled with our own dedication to this research, that dream is becoming reality.
At Bear Creek Winery, we have 80+ cold-climate grape varieties planted on site that we make our wines from as well as use for research with the goal of discovering the next best Midwest grape variety.
Compared to your usual European species of grape varieties (think Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon), which has been around for centuries, this species of cold climate grapes is very young. New cultivars are being bred each vintage and new discoveries are made every day, many of which are happening right here on our property.
Cultivating a MIDWEST wine community, right here in good ole Fargo, ND!
Not only do we have a love for cold climate grape cultivation and research, we have an innate passion for crafting quality wine and sharing it with friends and family. We love the unique community and connections that wine creates and how it’s able to effortlessly bring people together.
We offer private tastings to encourage learning and community further, as well as special events like dinners with local chefs to bring people together over delicious food and wine.
That is what we are fostering at Bear Creek. You can feel it in the atmosphere. When you come to our tasting room, you feel at home. You become part of the community. You become family.
